ADDITIONAL INFO

How did you become interested in mentoring?

Many mentoring agencies generally ask for a commitment of one year. Research indicates that this ensures developing an effective, close relationship. Are you prepared for this length of commitment?
Yes No
If no, do you have an idea of how much time you would have?

There are two types of mentoring opportunities offered by agencies. Please indicate which you are interested in:

Site-based mentoring: The mentor and child meet at a set location such as a school or other designated site, at a set time every week. These matches are usually supervised, have some planned activities, and have time to engage in activities that mentors and mentees choose (i.e., board games, arts & crafts, shooting hoops, etc.).

Community based mentoring: In these relationships, the mentor and mentee set the schedule and engage in activities of their choosing out in the community, such as going to the movies, hiking, playing sports, fishing, gardening, or sharing other common interests/hobbies.

Do you have a preference for the age of youth you would like to be matched with?

Some programs have an academic component such as homework help, tutoring, or college preparation. Is this something you are interested in?
Yes No No Preference

Please indicate any questions that you would like answered or any interests or needs that have not already been addressed.

Although all programs serve children and youth who are considered to be at-risk and in need of a mentor, some serve children and youth who are at greater risk of failing school or of engaging in delinquent behaviors. If you would be interested in mentoring higher risk youth, please indicate who you would be comfortable mentoring:
